We all know China is one of the world leaders in robotics technology. Over the past few years, we’ve seen amazing videos of military robots and drone shows flooding social media. But this week, there’s a new buzz: in Beijing’s Yizhuang district — also known as E-Town, a real innovation hub — a store that looks straight out of a sci-fi movie opened its doors: the Robot Mall.

This massive space covers four floors and about 4,000 square meters, but what really stands out is the innovative concept they brought to robotics for the first time: a “4S” store. For those who don’t know, that means everything is under one roof — sales, spare parts, technical maintenance, and active user feedback to keep improving the products.
And these aren’t just any robots. Prices range from around 2,000 yuan (about $278) to robots worth millions! The store is one of the first in China to sell humanoid and consumer-focused robots, and it’s often compared to a car dealership, offering all the services you’d expect to care for your robot.
All this is part of a bigger push by China, heavily investing in robotics and AI to tackle challenges like slower economic growth and an aging population.
And here’s something even more exciting: from August 14 to 17, Beijing will host the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games at the National Speed Skating Oval. This huge event will bring together 280 teams from 16 countries across five continents, with over 500 humanoid robots competing in 26 disciplines and 538 events. It’s a huge step forward for China’s robotics scene and a clear sign that the future is already here.
Get ready, the future’s knocking, and it’s powered by robots!
